Tidal Energy
Climate change is the biggest global challenge of this generation. To tackle the climate emergency, we need to reduce carbon emissions on a massive scale and move away from fossil fuels. Simultaneously, the world's demand for energy continues to increase. Renewable energy is essential for our future, but solar and wind are not sufficient to bridge the gap on their own. The sun does not always shine, and the wind does not always blow. We need new sources of predictable renewable energy to complement wind and solar.

Products
Nova Innovation's 100 kW tidal turbine is designed for a wide range of site conditions, delivering industry-leading performance, reliability, and exceptional electricity production. Our proven technology can be installed in seas (deep water and shallow water), estuaries and large rivers.
Energy Systems
The world is seeing a huge growth in micro-grids as consumers increasingly use local sources of generation to supply their power. Nova can deliver micro-grid systems to service remote clients with clean predictable electricity, bringing economic, environmental and social benefits.
Energy Storage
The falling cost of energy storage has created an attractive solution for clients who want to balance their energy needs more efficiently. Nova worked with global electric vehicle leaders Tesla to add energy storage to its tidal technology, creating the world's first baseload tidal power plant in 2018. As well as producing baseload tidal power which can displace traditional baseload forms such as coal and nuclear, Nova's technology can respond instantaniously to meet changes in client demand. This controllable output gives tidal power and energy storage a unique ability to displace diesel generation in coastal areas around the world.

The world's first offshore tidal energy array was installed by Nova Innovation at Bluemull Sound in Shetland in 2016.

Nova is currently building the Nova Scotia Tidal Array which is a 1.5MW tidal energy project for 15 turbines in Canada.
