Nova Hosts Labour's Green Strategy Launch

Nova was delighted to host the Labour Party’s UK Green Energy Strategy launch at our headquarters in Edinburgh this week.

Early in the morning, live broadcasts to BBC, Sky news and ITV took place in front of our Tidal Turbine Control Centre. This was followed by a major press launch alongside one of our turbines, Eunice, in for  scheduled maintenance – she scrubbed up well for the cameras! It was an excellent opportunity to represent Scotland’s renewable industry and promote tidal energy within the UK energy mix.

We continue to work with governments and stakeholders around the world to demonstrate the significant role tidal energy can play in the transition to net zero by:

  • Increasing energy security through the predictability of the tides

  • Creating thousands of highly skilled green jobs

  • Driving down energy costs.

If you come to places like Nova Innovation here, or the hydrogen and carbon capture cluster in Grangemouth, or the marvel of the Whitelee Windfarm outside Glasgow, then you can glimpse a different path.”

Scotland is currently leading the world in tidal energy and Nova is at the forefront of this green industrial revolution. As well as developing projects across the UK, Nova deployed its first turbine in France earlier this year and has delivered its first turbine to Canada, demonstrating the global potential of this new source of clean, predictable energy. Tidal energy is already creating highly skilled jobs and economic benefit across the UK, and with the right support, the full potential can be realised.
— Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party
There is a growing need for the UK to develop homegrown, natural resources for security of supply. We discussed the huge potential for tidal energy in the UK, the global export opportunity, and the need for a UK industrial strategy to achieve international competitiveness.

With expertise in tidal turbines, our launch of floating solar and feasibility studies granted for green hydrogen, Nova is perfectly placed to play our part in the green energy revolution.”.
